FAQ
Will ZAPPER Bug Guards fit my truck?
Will ZAPPER Bug Guards fit my truck?
ZAPPER Bug Guards are designed for universal fitment on a wide variety of classic trucks. The 60" model is ideal for full-size trucks like Squarebodys and Highboys, while the 30" model is better suited for Willys Jeeps, mini trucks, and smaller rigs.
The 60" guard features a center notch in the aluminum frame to accommodate different hood contours and mounts to a flat lip on the underside of the hood. The 30" guard has a straight, un-notched frame with three pre-drilled mounting holes and can be mounted to the top of the grille on a Willys Jeep or to a flat hood lip on smaller trucks.
Both models require a suitable mounting surface that can be drilled to accept the included brackets. Be sure to measure your vehicle and check mounting clearance before ordering!
How do I install ZAPPER Bug Guards?
How do I install ZAPPER Bug Guards?
ZAPPER Bug Guards mount to the underside of your hood using the included 2" aluminum brackets. For the 60" guard, start by centering it on your hood and checking the fit. The center notch allows the frame to follow the hood's natural contour. Gently bend the aluminum frame as needed to match the shape of your hood, taking care not to apply excessive pressure or stress the acrylic. The 30" guard features a straight, un-notched frame designed for smaller trucks and Jeeps with flatter hood profiles.
Once you're happy with the positioning, mark the mounting hole locations and drill pilot holes in the flat underside lip of your hood for the self-tapping screws. Secure the guard using the included brackets and appropriate hardware. Be sure to check hood clearance and tighten all hardware before hitting the road. Your hood latch may require adjustment to ensure proper closure after installation.
